The History of Danko Productions
Danko Productions Inc. has been in business for 20 years, starting up as a small custom fabrication shop in Kissimme, Florida in 1991.
Danko's original business venture was based around a full re-body kit for the 1982-1992 Chevrolet Camaro called the Danko Inferno.
Moshe Field, who is the designer and founder of the company, had
studied engineering at Ohio State University and Ohio University from
1985-1988 while minoring in art. The Danko Inferno project was met with
reasonable success and was featured in several automotive magazines
including Kit Car Illustrated and Peterson's Kit Car Magazine. As the
years progressed and having been already fully set up as a fiberglass
parts manufacturer, Danko began to specialize and move into the
reproduction market to fill the need for hard to find obsolete classic car restoration parts. These highly sought after reproductions became the bread and butter
for the company, but Moshe also wanted a more creative outlet, and having a fiberglass business and the special skills
needed to sculpt original art work was especially useful living in the
Orlando area. Danko's first themed project was for 100 cartoon rabbit signs for "Give Kids The
World" in Kissimmee, FL, a charitable foundation that provides an expense free vacation in Orlando for terminally ill
children and their families. Thanks to Moshe's Cousin, Henri Landwirth, who is the founder of GKTW, the cartoon rabbit sign project greatly helped Danko break into the theme park business. More prop work
was taken on, later working on several high profile themed projects with
several of the largest companies that built themed park props for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Epcot Center and Sea World. After many years of producing custom themed environments, Moshe and his highly trained crew worked on developing a new product for interior architecture. After extensive investment, and partnering with 2 investors from Atlanta Moshe set out to develop a new Alpha-Gypsum based fireplace casting formula that has the appearance of stone, was non-flammable,
has a zero smoke rating, can pass heat transfer tests for safety, and of course, be cost effective. With this new product, coined "LimeTech", the company was able to win a limited production contract developing and building a custom faux stone fireplace surround for a very large world wide fireplace distributor, Dimplex of North America. The next step was to expand to also offer it to theme park companies moulded in any custom shape or texture. Many high profile projects were completed including manufacturing the entire interior faux block walls of the "Revenge of the Mummy" ride at Universal Studios along with many enormous Egyptian style columns and capitols for the set. To this day, these products have proven extremely durable, being exposed to park guests daily. Right around this time, Moshe was finishing up a job for Miami Children's Museum featuring 12 original sculptures. For family reasons and better school opportunities for their 7 children, Moshe and his wife Rivkah made the decision to relocated the family business to Miami in
2004. Finding that there was little demand for themed props in Miami, Moshe decided to expand the company by
adding a new line of custom retro parts for the Dodge LX cars (Charger,
Magnum, Challenger and 300). After 5 years of creating new designs Danko's current LX line has become one of the
most popular and highly regarded brand of custom LX body accessories in
the world today. Danko's custom and reproduction parts have been shipped
to almost every country on the globe and have gained international renown when they were put to work on the NASCAR Pace Car at Chicagoland speedway. Even more notably,
Danko's Charger shaker systems were used twice by the Gaffoglio Family
MetalCrafters, Inc (who hand build all of Chrysler's Concept cars) to
create the Chrysler Cuda Concept Car, which was featured in center stage of Dodges 2008 SEMA Auto Show booth in Las Vegas. Danko's Shaker System was featured on a TV
episode of "Cops" as a race bating police Charger, and that same shaker
system is even currently being used on an unmarked police car in Ross
Township. Danko custom parts have been featured on countless show cars, graced the covers of automotive magazines and they have made regular appearances at
the SEMA auto show in Vegas for 5 years in a row. For a change of pace, Moshe is presently working on a very large architectural project in which the goal is to reproduce, in detail, a full size Replica of the Western Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, Israel. These giant stones will be cast using rubber moulds and will be produced in house using Danko's exclusive LimeTech artificial stone formula. Danko will also be installing these products mostly in places of worship, museums and private homes.
